Pools are the favorite spot of any house. Kids have fun here; adults can get a nice swim and elders can relax after a warm Florida day. To get that perfect texture with just the right amount of friction, a spray deck or knockdown deck is just right. But there is something else that is even better - a kool deck. A kool or cool deck is a pool deck resurfacing material that is water-proof and also keeps the pool deck cool on a hot day. Kool deck resurfacing can also be used beyond the pool in any area that you walk frequently in. We over spray decks such as Kool deck as well as our specialty - concrete resurfacing with our unique stamped concrete overlay process.

Top 7 Advantages of Going Stamped Concrete.
Versatility is not the only strong point of concrete. There are many other points where concrete scores over other flooring materials. While every other flooring material has one or a few points in which it is the best, concrete does a sort of balancing act. It combines the pros of all other flooring materials to give a flooring option that ticks all the boxes, like a Jack of All Trades. Let us take a look at the pros of concrete flooring.
- Hassle-free Installation - Compare the installation of concrete with any other flooring material. You will find one glaring difference. It is that while every other material requires a lengthy, complex process to be installed and finished, concrete flooring is done in just a few steps. The only time-consuming part is the curing process, which does not require any extra effort.
- Easy to Maintain - Concrete floors do not need multiple or extensive tools and chemicals to maintain. A quick resealing or refinishing done every few years is enough to make concrete floors last generations.
- Convenient Repair - Repairing concrete is easier than installing it, unlike the other floor materials, that most often require full removal of the old floor in case of damage to install the new one. Damage in concrete floors, if detected in time, can be corrected by a light concrete resurfacing, that not only repairs cracks and holes but also covers up any unsightly marks.
- Stress-resistant - Concrete can be made resistant against almost every element of nature like strong sunlight, rain, dust, wind, cold and frost, as well as pests. Depending on the location where concrete flooring is being applied, concrete can also be made sturdy enough to withstand high pressure.
- Economical - Whether you are installing concrete floors in a house being constructed or one being repaired, whether you are doing concrete overlay or inlay work, whether you are getting concrete resurfacing to undo damages or give your house a new look, the entire process is extremely easy on the pocket. No matter what kind of stamped concrete or staining process you get done, the whole cost will still be lower than doing most of the other flooring methods.
- Durable - Concrete floors can last for many years, if maintained well. If the concrete floor has been put in with precise technique, as our men at Suncoast Stamped Concrete can guarantee, and if the floor is resealed and resurfaced at the right time, you will be able to stretch the life of the concrete floor by a significant number of years.
- Versatile - The best thing about concrete is that it can be made to look like any of the more premium flooring materials, down to even the tiniest details. Whether it is stone, wood, marble, cobble, slate, brick, travertine, granite or quartzite, you can achieve almost any look you want with concrete. It is just a matter of clever usage of stamped concrete and concrete stain. You can also decide to retain the look of the original concrete, adding pizzazz to it by plain stamping, staining, spray, knockdown or polishing.
Every person in the world wants the best options to build their dream home. They want the best materials, the best design and the best constructors to create a beautiful and safe haven to rest in. They want a home that is cozy and pretty, and yet robust enough to be able to protect them from the vagaries of nature. They also want all of these at an appropriate value. No one wants to shell out more than they can or should. Value for money is a rare thing these days. But one thing that aptly defines this concept is concrete. Concrete is one of those materials that never fails to impress. It changes with the times and redefines itself again and again to create impressive options to grace breathtakingly beautiful houses. The possibilities with concrete are limitless. It is unlike any other in that it can be given any number of patterns, colors and textures to create endless looks to fit the house and satisfy the wants of the inhabitants. Moreover, you can use concrete anywhere. Floors inside as well as outside a building can be made of concrete, and each can be given such widely different looks that no one will ever guess that they are one and the same. Concrete floors can even be installed differently so as to be able to endure the different kinds of stress that it experiences in different locations of a building or public place.
When concrete staining was first used, people simply took the pigments and dyed the concrete with it. No bonding was done, and as a result, this stain would fade away quite easily. Learning their lesson, concrete workers decided to use some kind of solvent to help the stains percolate more. They used the most common solvent they knew at that time - alcohol. While organic pigments in alcohol did stain the concrete better and more evenly, the organic nature of the concrete stain colors meant that they also decomposed fast in the presence of sunlight. So, the next thing they came up with was the acid stain concrete. The working principle here was that pigmented metal salts would be dissolved in mineral acid and used as the staining chemical. The advantage of this technique was that the acid, used as a solvent, would help the pigments bond permanently with the concrete by a chemical reaction. When the acid reacted with the basic limestone in the cement, stain pigments having common ions with these would react with and penetrate the concrete layer to a substantial depth. This made the concrete stain far more resistant to fading.
Acid stain mostly imparts earthy, subdued shades to the concrete. Although acid staining solved the durability problem, as an eco-friendly alternative, water staining was introduced. Here water-soluble pigments are used with water acting as the buffer between the stain and the concrete. The stains do not permeate or bond as well as in acid staining. Therefore, water stain concrete floors do not retain their patterns for as long as acid stain concrete does.
Colored concrete is just one kind of finish that concrete can be given. There are many more ways. Instead of staining the surface, one can also create textures on it. Concrete polishing is a way of creating a smoother texture on the concrete surface. A finer composition of concrete is used over the coarser base layer and then polishing with diamond pads of increasing fineness to remove all bumps. A final layer of chemical hardener is used to seal the surface permanently. Anti-skid materials have to be used to prevent slipping accidents, especially when the surface is wet. A smooth surface can also be obtained via the use of sealers, especially acrylic resins or epoxy sealers. Penetrating sealers are more useful for creating a pressure-resistant top surface that can handle stress. Conversely, one may also choose to achieve a coarser texture to give the concrete a self-pattern. There are a number of ways to get such a patterned concrete. Splatter, scraped and knockdown are the top ones.
Concrete overlays form the most convenient way of repairing and refinishing concrete floors. While inlaying requires the old concrete floor to be partially or completely demolished to install a new one, either as a whole or as slabs, overlaying skips the hassle entirely. All you have to do is spread a layer of concrete over the old one and choose from a number of concrete floor designs to apply to it. Stamped concrete overlays are popularly used in all places, from the interiors of the house to the exteriors. Stamped concrete is easier to do than stencils, because cement stamps come in small sizes and can be applied section by section, while stencils have to be used in one long expanse to get the desired result. That is why the stamped concrete cost is lower than stenciling, and most other techniques for that matter.
